Binding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries: African Americans in Civil War Medicine looks at the men and women who served as surgeons and nurses and how their work as medical providers challenged the prescribed notions of race and gender.

The Binding Wounds exhibit is on display at Wayne State University Shiffman Medical Library from March 19 - April 28, 2012.

Admission is free and open to the public, during Shiffman Library's open hours: Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 12 midnight, Friday 7:30 am - 8 pm, Saturday & Sunday 12 noon - 8 pm.
