Finding Full Text

When the full text of the article is not available in the database, use the "360 Link to Full Text" button .

The system will search for full text and return the options in a separate window.

Click on the Article link that appears in the new window. You may have to click through 2-3 pages until you reach the PDF link for the article.

If you receive a message that the article is not available online, use the "Request digital delivery" link below the message and follow the instructions to order the article. Digital delivery sends a PDF version of the article to you. You will receive notice via email, usually within 48 hours.

If you continue to have difficulty retrieving the article, contact Ask-a-Librarian or a reference desk at one of the libraries.

 

Handbooks and Encyclopedias

The Handbook of Linguistics

Overviews of 29 subfields of linguistics, each written by one of a leading researchers. It explores: psycholinguistics, linguistic anthropology and ethnolinguistics, sociolinguistic theory, language variation and second language pedagogy.

The Cambridge Handbook of Linguistic Anthropology

Covers a wide range of topics, approaches and theories, such as the nature and function of language systems, the relationship between language and social interaction, and the place of language in the social life of communities.

The Cambridge Handbook of Cognitive Linguistics

The Handbook introduces fields of study that have become central to cognitive linguistics, such as conceptual mappings and construction grammar, and includes fields of study such as language acquisition, sociolinguistics, diachronic studies, and corpus linguistics.

The Languages and Linguistics of Africa

This volume is intended for readers with a specific interest in African languages and also for students and scholars within the greater discipline of linguistics.

Handbook of Comparative and Historical Indo-European Linguistics

Comprehensive coverage of the field of Indo-European Linguistics.

The Cambridge Handbook of Sociolinguistics

As well as linguistic perspectives, the handbook includes insights from anthropology, social psychology, the study of discourse and power, conversation analysis, theories of style and styling, language contact and applied sociolinguistics.

Streaming Video Sites

The websites below can be used to search for films you might wish to use in courses.  Videos can be requested through the library's Streaming Media (Video and Audio) Request Form.  If possible, include the URL for the film you'd like in the Call Number field. When Wayne State University Libraries has acquired licensed access, the video will be accessible through the library's catalog.  The Permalink at the bottom of the cataloging record can be given directly to students, and/or embedded in Canvas or other course sites.
