Anthropology 

Anthropology is the science of humanity, examining human life and variation in the different forms in which they are found. Anthropology considers the variety of customs, languages, and civilizations that make up humanity. Uniting diverse sciences such as biology and geology, with humanistic endeavors such as religious studies, philosophy, and history, anthropology has often been called the most scientific of the humanities and the most humanistic of the scientific disciplines.

Undergraduate Program in Anthropology

Wayne State University's Department of Anthropology provides a broad spectrum of undergraduate education that prepares students for graduate study in anthropology, or other related fields. A major in asychology also prepares students for careers in the medical field, field work, psychology, sociology, ethnic studies, business and other related fields.

MA/PHD in Anthropology

Wayne State University's Department of Anthropology offers an MA or PH.D program in six different areas: Archaeology, Business/Organizational Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, Medical Anthropology, and Physical Anthropology. The department also the Anthropology Graduate Student Organization (AGSO).

I hope that you will find this guide a useful starting place for your research in Anthropology. I have assembled a core collection of resources available through the Wayne State University Library System, as well as high quality, freely available web resources. This guide is a collaborative work-in-progress, developed with the suggestions and feedback from students and faculty in the Department of Anthropology.

Ember and Melvin Ember, this electronic, searchable 2 volume encyclopedia explores general concepts and perspectives of medical health systems, health conditions, diseases, and how they relate to world cultures. It is located either by title in the catalog, or through the Gale Virtual Reference Library Database.
