What is EndNote?

What is EndNote?

  • Software program available at a discount for purchase to faculty, staff and students of Wayne State University.
  • Used to store and organize citation information
  • Used with word processor software such as Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, OpenOffice, Mathematica and more, to insert citations and create bibliographies in the style of your choice when composing research papers (EndNote Compatibility and System Requirements)

EndNote is available at a discount to all Wayne State University students, faculty and staff from C&IT. Go to Download Endnote on this guide to purchase and download EndNote.

EndNote X3 is not compatible with Word 2010. Word 2010 users should upgrade to the most current version of EndNote available.

Important information for Mac users:

EndNote X7 may not work with Word 2011 on Mac Maverick. Please contact  EndNote Technical Support if you are experiencing problems.

EndNote X5 has some compatibility problems with Mountain Lion. Specifically, you will need to use the Firefox browser if you want to export citations directly from library databases or Google Scholar into EndNote. You will also have compatibility problems when using the Cite While You Write function in Word. Please contact  EndNote Technical Support to discuss how you can change your preferences in order to use Cite While You Write.
