Copying, Printing, and Downloading

Some eBook providers utilize Digital Rights Management on the eBooks that Wayne State University Library Systems has access to, while others are DRM-free. Each eBook provider has their own policies regarding printing, copying, and downloading their content. Restrictions (if any) that are placed on specific titles are up to the eBook provider's discretion and the parameters can change, so be sure to check to see if there are DRM limits and what they are for each book by checking the book's detail page on the eBook provider's site.

Digital Rights Management

What is Digital Rights Management?

Digital Rights Management (DRM) refers to all the processes, policies, and technologies that organizations use to control how digital assets are shared and used. This can include, but is not limited to:

  1. Setting limits on the number of copies that can be made of a specific work.

  2. Preventing users from copying, pasting, or taking screenshots of digital content.

  3. Setting time limits and/or expiration dates after which users cannot access digital content.

  4. Limiting the number of users allowed to access a title at one time.
