Webinar

Tuesday, March 3   11:30 AM - 12:15 PM     Zoom Webinar

What are Open Education Resources, how do I find them, and how do they support student success?

Open Education Resources (OER) are educational resources in any form that are freely available and are licensed (usually under a Creative Commons license) with permissions that allow users to Retain, Reuse, Revise, Remix and Redistribute the content (commonly referred to as "The 5R Permissions of OER").

Veronica Bielat, Wayne State University Student Success Librarian, will lead this webinar which will introduce you to the 5R's, Creative Commons licensing, and resources you can use to discover quality licensed OER. We will also look at how the research that shows how adopting OER for your course can positively impact student success.

This webinar is appropriate for faculty, instructors, instructional designers, graduate teaching assistants, university staff and librarians who are new to OER and are interested in learning more.

Open Licenses for Open Educational Resources

The definition of open educational resources (OER) includes the phrase “reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions,” but what does that really mean? (

Joshua Neds-Fox, Wayne State University Coordinator for Digital Publishing, leads this webinar which will use Creative Commons licenses as a model for discovering what open licensing means for content creators or copyright holders, and how open licensing complements and supports copyright.

This webinar is appropriate for students, instructors, instructional designers, librarians -- any member of a campus community - who creates content and would like an introduction to open licensing.

Thank you!
