Juneteenth: Tulsa Massacre

History

Also known as the Tulsa Race Riot and the Black Wall Street Massacre, these attacks on Black people and Black owned businesses took place from May 31st-June 1st, 1921. Large groups of White people, many of whom had been deputized, and given weapons by city officials, destroyed more than 35 square blocks of the affluent Black Wall Street area in the Greenwood District, in Tulsa, OK.
