Samstag Aus Licht (Philharmonie de Paris)In “Saturday,” a brass fanfare establishes demonic environs, followed by “Lucifer’s Dream,” a half-hour feature for piano and bass voice, in which Lucifer (the bass) asks for “a dream piece” (from the pianist). That performance seemingly kills Lucifer. In the next act, a flutist-cat works with percussionists to perform a requiem. A resurrected Lucifer emerges, subsequently, as the leader of a marching band. Then a chorus of monks leads a “farewell” procession at a nearby chapel.
