Voices From the Writers Block

Attendee poetry, written in reaction to / after Voices from the Writer's Block library event.

What is the Writers Block?

On April 28, 2022, the Wayne State University Library System hosted Voices from the Writer's Block: Poetry from the Macomb Correctional Facility. This program included selected readings from Absent But Present, a collection of poetry from members of Writer's Block, a poetry workshop that has been meeting for over a decade at Macomb Correctional Facility. The group began working on the book in summer 2019 but due to COVID regulations, has not been able to meet since early 2020. The poetry was read by members of the Wayne State University Library System, Writer's Block facilitators and a Writer's Block alum whose work is featured in the book.
