Ann Arbor Sun
The Sun was the newspaper for a succession of communities around the paper's founder and first editor, John Sinclair. Begun in 1967 in Detroit as the Warren-Forrest Sun, the name was changed to the Ann Arbor Sun when the Trans-Love Energies commune moved to Ann Arbor in 1968 and set up shop at 1510 and 1520 Hill St. The paper still covered much of the Detroit Art and Music scene after its move to Ann Arbor.

Finding articles about artists in the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News

Through the 1970s and 1980s, both Detroit newspapers had art critics and wrote regularly about art exhibitions. You can search for gallery names and artists names for those articles, in our online historical file for the Detroit Free Press.
