The Digital Publishing House is primarily a service unit, providing hosting, consultation, support services such as DOI registration, and programming and pedagogical initiatives. However, we also serve as publisher for a number of publications (https://digitalcommons.wayne.edu/oa_journals). In these cases, we largely leave policy decisions to the Editorial teams managing the journals, and each journal website will include those policies the journal's editorial bodies have adopted.
At the Publisher level, we do govern our own practice by reference to the joint statement of the Committee on Publication Ethics, Directory of Open Access Journals, the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association and the World Association of Medical Editors on Principles of transparency and best practice in scholarly publishing (https://doaj.org/apply/transparency/). While specific policies under the core guidelines enumerated in this statement are left to the journals themselves, our guidance to editorial teams and any actions we take will adhere to these Principles.
