Providing Healing & Promoting Hope

Selectors: PK Service Desk Camisha, Hannah, Deb, Julia and Katie

The theme for Women's History Month this year is "Providing Healing, Promoting Hope." From the pandemic to postcolonial theory, we're celebrating the everyday woman and the strives we've made toward equity and progress through healing and hope!

The National Women's History Alliance wrote; Women as healers started back to the ancient times. Healing is the personal experience of transcending suffering and transforming it to wholeness. The gift of hope spreads light to the lives of others and reflects a belief in the unlimited possibilities of this for future generations. Together, healing and hope are essential fuels for our dreams and our recovery.

This year, in particular, we are again reminded of the importance of healers and caregivers who are helping to promote and sustain hope for the future. The NWHA  encourages communities throughout the country to honor local women who bring and have brought these priceless gifts to  their families, workplace, and neighborhoods, sometimes at a great sacrifice These women are grandmothers, mothers, wives, teachers, clerics, judges, librarians, counselors, artists, doctors, and nurses.

Women continue to advocate for compassionate treatments and new directions in public health and in women's mental and physical health. Women have historically led the way in mending divisions, healing wounds, and finding peaceful solutions. This timeless work, in so many ways helps many others in our communities recover, and follow their dreams.
