Team Dolly: Welcome!

This WSULS LibGuide provides an overview for Wayne State University's Team Dolly, Detroit's local affiliate for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Who is Team Dolly?

Originated by Wayne State University Library System (WSULS) employees in October 2019, Team Dolly's mission was to make Dolly Parton's Imagination Library available to WSU and the surrounding Detroit community. On July 1st, 2020, the Imagination Library launched in Detroit zip codes 48201 and 48202--the two zip codes that encompass Wayne State University's campus. With WSULS' Team Dolly as the local affiliate, any children between the ages of 0-5 living in 48201 or 48202 can register with DPIL to receive free monthly books.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Started by Dolly Parton in 1995, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) is a program that will mail one free book every month to each registered child from birth to age five. Chapter organizations of the Imagination Library now exist worldwide. In order for DPIL to exist in an area, a local affiliate is needed to run and manage each program chapter--Team Dolly was born out of this necessity! More details can be found by visiting the Imagination Library's homepage.

This video details how Imagination Library books are processed and delivered to registered recipients' homes!
