How do you make a 3D model?
3D prints are designed on a computer using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as Maya or Blender.
How does a 3D printer work?
The 3D printer uses a spool of material called "Filament" which is a PLA plastic, which is fed through a tube into the extruder nozzel, which functions like a hot glue gun as it melts the filament for printing. The printer then proceeds to extrude layer-by-layer as it builds your designs.
Do I have to design something to print?
No, there are many free and paid options for finding 3D models already designed and ready to print. Please see the 3D Printing Sites tab for more options.
