About the Department
In the Department of Sociology at Wayne State, they specialize in the study of health and illness, race and gender inequality, labor studies, and urban studies. They offer many programs of study. At the undergraduate level, students can major or minor in sociology. At the Masters level, they offer two separate degrees: A Masters in Sociology or a Masters in Applied Sociology (for those who might be interested in moving straight into a more applied working environment in the local area). They also offer a Doctoral degree in Sociology.
Welcome to the guide for Sociology!
This guide is a useful starting place for your research and assignments in Sociology. I have assembled a core collection of resources available through the Wayne State University Library System, as well as high quality, freely available Internet resources. This guide is a collaborative work-in-progress, developed with the suggestions and feedback from students and faculty in the Department of Sociology.
I am available for instruction to all levels of Sociology courses, and welcome the opportunity to do so! Please contact me if you would like to schedule a session. I am also available by appointment to assist students with research and assignments and faculty with their research. You may also contact me to suggest items for purchase.
This guide consists of several tabs to guide your research, including tutorials on searching library resources. Simply click on a tab at the top of the page to see the contents. There is also a list of other relevant guides, which will help with the interdisciplinary nature of sociology.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the contact information located in the right-side profile box.
