The Reserves Collection allows the library to make “high demand” print and audiovisual resources available for those who need them. These resources include Wayne Law student textbooks, supplementary course materials and study aids, ICLE treatises and guides to Michigan law, standard legal treatises and legal practice materials. The Reserves Collection is located right behind the Circulation and Reference Desks in the Law Library’s main reading room. Please ask a law librarian or library assistant to retrieve Reserves items for you.
The Law Library purchases one copy of all required textbooks and recommended materials in the Reserves Collection. There is a “Booklist” of Law School course materials in a 3-ring binder at the Circulation Desk for the current semester. Course materials are listed by Course Name, Course Number and Law Faculty Name. You can identify materials required for your courses by checking the “Booklist.”
To make these items readily available to you and other students in your class, the loan period is normally limited to 3 hours. You may renew the item for an additional 3-hour period if no one else is waiting to use it. You will need your WSU OneCard to check out a Reserves item, so please remember to bring it with you!
Textbooks and Materials Required or Recommended for Student Purchase
The Law School Registrar, Rebecca Hollancid, prepares the “Booklist” of materials required or recommended for students enrolled in Law School courses. She bases the “Booklist” on the information she receives from Law Faculty. When the Law Library receives the “Booklist” from the Registrar, we purchase a copy of all required textbooks and recommended materials listed for each course and place them in the Reserves Collection.
The Law Library is also happy to have your recommendations for including other materials in the Reserves Collection at any time. Simply contact Kathryn Polgar at ey8257@wayne.edu or 313-577-3553 with your request. Please keep in mind that we may have to purchase or borrow these materials, so we appreciate having as much lead time as possible to do so. Our goal is to have them available when they are needed.
