Guide to Interlibrary Services

If the library doesn't have it, Interlibrary Services can get it!

Find Books, CDs & DVDs

Looking for a book? Follow these steps to find what you need.

First, try the Library Catalog

Search the Library Catalog
Looking for a book or other physical item? Before opening a MeLCat or ILL request, try searching the Wayne State Library Catalog. If we have the item, you'll get it faster than you would with a request from an outside library.  Please note, Wayne State will not attempt to borrow items already available at the university, including reserve items.

Can't find a book at Wayne State? Try MeLCat

Search MeLCat
Before placing an ILL request, search a network of libraries with MeLCat, the Michigan eLibrary. You can request available items for delivery to the library within days. If you find the item in MeL, click "Get This For Me." Select "WSU library account", then login with your Access ID and password. Choose a library for pick-up, then submit your request.

Can't find a book with MeLCat? Try WorldCat

Search WorldCat
If the book cannot be requested in MeLCat, search libraries worldwide with WorldCat. If you find the item in WorldCat, follow the title link on the search results. A "Get it@WSU" link will appear if Wayne State has a copy. Otherwise, click "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" to login to you account, review item information and submit your request.
